[The only thing that shows up on the video feed is a sigil on a flag of some kind hung up on a wall--it fills the whole screen and the camera is set up purposefully for it does not move the entire time. See icon for exact image of the sigil.]

Today is the Feast of Annunciation.

In Firenze, that also means the beginning of the New Year. I realize that many have already celebrated such an event and I will admit at the time it befuddled me that so many celebrated it during that time, and then again the Eastern tradition was on yet another day altogether. So it was celebrated twice here with such a diversity of peoples. But to me the beginning of the year starts this day. I realize it seems odd to celebrate the new year right in the middle of a month but it is how we've done it for years. Call it a religious fault, if you will, though that may be inaccurate it does fall on the celebration on the Annunciation of Christ--likely on purpose.

Either way... I quite like the tradition.

Ezio, enjoy the grapes and strawberries while they last. I won't be asking for them again anytime soon. And I imagine they are very hard to grow at this time of the year.

Arcivescovo Maxwell, I will be coming to the church to pay my respects. I assume you still celebrate the day despite the chronology differences?

Su Altezza Alessandro, Cardinale Sforza--will you hold true as well? Shall I see the two of you today?

La sicurezza e la pace sulla città ei suoi abitanti. Potrebbe essere il giorno luminoso e felice per tutti. Buon anno.

[[Arcivescovo - Archbishop

Su Altezza - Your Highness

Cardinale - Cardinal

Safety and peace upon the city and its residents. May the day be bright and happy for all. Happy new year.]]

In the past. But I do not believe in gods, Yorda.

[He chuckles then, taking to the more happy conversation thankfully.]

We should, actually. It would be a fine way to cheer the residents up, and make new friends while mingling.

lol

.

It is my family's noble sigil.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
...The Bible?

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, amica. It is my family's emblem.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)

...Oh? That is nice. Do you wish to meet somewhere?

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, Eald.

[Heheh.] Family sigil.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Very well, Xi.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Many different peoples here, can you really expect otherwise?

[identity profile] crystal-eyed.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Family sigil...? Oh right... Like those San d'Orians have.

Do they have a big festival or something for New Year's?

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
As all nobles have.

A feast, obviously. [Blank stare.]

[identity profile] weaponxi.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a pleasurrre to meet you, Giovanni.

Might I ask how long you have been here?

[identity profile] crystal-eyed.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Pffft d-don't look at him like that. ]

Oh. What kinda food do you get? Just normal stuff, or do ya get special food?

[identity profile] born-of-wolves.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
The whole explanation.

[identity profile] not-riku-thx.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Happy New Year...sorry the scientists forgot your fireworks.

...And a real feast. I've got some meat, if you want some.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[He chuckles.] No big deal. Not very common where I am from.

Ah--that would be imposing. I am fine, giovane. Thank you for the offer. [He shakes his head; no.]

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Normally? I would have to say... well, I am a noble... and my patron is the wealthiest man in Firenze... I tend to bring my family to his banquets. Let's just say there's usually more food than there are people to eat it. And there are a lot of people.

[identity profile] crystal-eyed.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. Sounds like a pretty good time, if you ask me.

Just thinking about all that makes me hungry...

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
The honor is all mine, signorina.

A little over four months.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Of what exactly?

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Very. There are events and dancing on the side. It is a grand thing.

Hhnm.

[identity profile] crystal-eyed.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I sure wish I could see something like that one day.

...what?

[identity profile] born-of-wolves.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Annunciation.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
The act of Gabriel telling Mary she was going to be the God-bearer? All of one sentence when put simply.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps you will. Perhaps one day I will treat you to such. [Hemph.]

It does.

[identity profile] crystal-eyed.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I'd like that.

[ ...are you making fun of him. ] What does?
