Today is the Feast of Annunciation.

In Firenze, that also means the beginning of the New Year. I realize that many have already celebrated such an event and I will admit at the time it befuddled me that so many celebrated it during that time, and then again the Eastern tradition was on yet another day altogether. So it was celebrated twice here with such a diversity of peoples. But to me the beginning of the year starts this day. I realize it seems odd to celebrate the new year right in the middle of a month but it is how we've done it for years. Call it a religious fault, if you will, though that may be inaccurate it does fall on the celebration on the Annunciation of Christ--likely on purpose.

Either way... I quite like the tradition.

Ezio, enjoy the grapes and strawberries while they last. I won't be asking for them again anytime soon. And I imagine they are very hard to grow at this time of the year.

Arcivescovo Maxwell, I will be coming to the church to pay my respects. I assume you still celebrate the day despite the chronology differences?

*She smiles up at him, her ears flickering as she keeps alert in her own way.*

So yer whole family is like this?

[He chuckles silently.] My father before me, and his before him...

*She closes her eyes, smiling as much as she can at that.*

So it's a family trrrait. How wonderful is that...

[How wonderful indeed. A trained family trait to stay in the shadows, waiting, silent, death watching its prey unbeknownist to the hapless victim. Yes. So wonderful indeed...

Giovanni remains contemplatively silent; watching, waiting.]

*She reopens her eyes and goes to watch him, studying his movements and flow. She goes to shift a little before going to lean over to him to try and give him that hug now.*

[He blinks, unmoving save to automatically tense completely--until he remembers and snaps out of assassin mode to look over at her and relax. He smiles and returns the gesture only a little awkwardly.]

*She feels the tenseness and smiles as he relaxes. She goes to let out a soft sigh as well as a purr as he hugs her back. Heck, she even goes to try and move her tail to join in the hugging, purring all the while.*

[fdjak;l!! Weird appendages and all, he accepts her still even if he doesn't get her. He supposes it kinda cute--the cat thing, or whatever it is. He sighs and pats her gently, instinctually going with fatherly tendencies in such a situation.]

*She's a Mithra. Well, technically she is a shape-shifter but the current form is a Mithra. She blinks at the patting and couldn't help but to start purring even more.*

[Whatever that is. Giovanni would just look at her funny if she told him something like that and ask why she calls herself a god. He smiles oddly and rubs her back soothingly.]

*She would give him a funny look should he ask why she is a god. Ahhh, so soothing, she goes to half-close her eyes and continues to purr. Her tail slowly falls off of him in order to sway slowly behind her.*

[Mithra is a Persian god. And she is definitely a cat! They can just stay like that for a while, Giovanni watching the skyline as they hug comfortably. It's not like he minds being a comfy pillow-like-thing. Really.]

*That is a very good point. It's not Xi's fault that Giovanni is so comfy and that rubbing isn't helping matters much! She goes to give him a gentle squeeze, still keeping her eyes half-closed.*

Ya feeling any betterrrr?

[He chuckles silently. Had he really felt bad in the first place?]

I am much better, thank you Xi. [He offers her a smile.]

*She giggles as she heard the the chuckle and continues to purr.*
