...perhaps I miss the old routine a bit much. This new one, while nice and cozy, makes only for a decent vacation. Yes, even despite the odd happenstances here and there. It is too...boring.

[He pauses. He's complaining. And he realizes he's turned the communicator without much thinking about it. He was past due for an update anyway, before he discovered for himself just what sort of energy the device packed, and had been thinking about it before he started in on the complaints of this place. Ah well.]

Boring. Listen to me--complaining like some sort of youngster who has nothing better than to get into trouble every day. I converse much too often with giovani here and start to reminiscence on my old lifestyle as if I could get away with what I used to.

[He sighs.] I am getting old. When you start saying 'I'm getting too old for this' it is well past time you are too old for...things.

...Ugh. Now I'm using circular arguments and boring unto death those silly enough to listen to these devices.

[...]

Though I can't help but to miss the action back home. Not just the routine... but the purpose. What purpose is there here?

Ya mean other than trrryin' not to get killed? Search me.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. It is all rather useless.

And why even bother trying not to die? You'll just be brought back. It takes away the pure meaning of life. It makes existence completely pointless. There is no meaning to life, no reason to live.

Before, I had a purpose. Something to sustain me through hard times and not take for granted the times of peace. That has been taken away from me--replaced by little more than the pretense of going through the old motions as if they mean anything anymore.

It is beyond cruel. It is unnatural.

[identity profile] najawantsgold.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
[ ...well. You've got a point there, mystery man. ]

Gotta agrrree with ya there.

If it's a purpose yer lookin' for, though, sittin' arrround and complainin' ain't gonna do ya any good. You gotta find it yerself.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
I don't. Sit around and complain all day, that is. I have not touched this device in nearly two weeks. In the meantime I have been keeping up with a usual routine.

As I said, though, it is rather pointless compared to the one I had at home.

Why bother protecting people when there's nothing to protect them from?

[identity profile] najawantsgold.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
If ya ask me, we've got plenty to prrrotect others from. Monsters, crrriminals who just happened to be dropped off here, and my favorite, the scientists themselves.

And don't even get me starrrted on routines, pal. Running a building may not be as bad as running a mercenary agency, but it still turns into hell when ya leave for so much as five minutes with someone else in charge.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
The scientists? How am I to protect people from those that never show themselves? Give me a hint--a direction... and I shall slit their throats while they sleep for each and everyone of us brought here upon their unscrupulous whims. But there is no way to find them.

That is your own fault for leaving it to the hands of an inexperienced boy. And quite frankly it was no one's fault at all--it was simply bad timing. One can't help the unnatural machinations of this desolate city. In a true society things would not fall apart so simply with just a simple landlord job--there is nothing to that sort of job. Keep residents in line and fix the building. Nothing to it.

Try running an entire city. A very large city. Then you can complain to me. [This is way he allows Lorenzo to complain to him. Otherwise: no. :|]

[identity profile] najawantsgold.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
No idea where they are yet, but there's more than one way to protect someone than to kill someone else. I'd know that much.

[ Naja WOULD retort that she was in line to run a nation herself, but yeah. Being a princess =/= important. Totally. And that looking after and fixing the building isn't all she--

...wait, WAIT. HANG ON. ]

Whoa; hold it, pal. What's this about an inexperienced boy?

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps. But a blade can silence the false quicker than a pen. Or communicator in this case.

I'm saying you chose an inexperienced boy to take your place while you went off on your little vacation. What else did you think I said?

[identity profile] najawantsgold.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Or an Immortal, I'd take it.

...how the hell do you know about that? [ THAT WAS CONFIDENTIAL BUSINESS, YO. ]

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
I pay attention. [And he also leaves with the boy in question. He may not have been told but all the signs were there and easy for one so experienced as he to figure out.]

[identity profile] inyourgarden.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Lot of people asking that question lately. Ain't that something you should all answer yourself?

[identity profile] najawantsgold.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
...look. I don't know how you found out about what was supposed to be confidential, but I'd appreciate it if ya kept it that way instead of spoutin' it out all over the place.

And show some rrrespect while yer at it.

[ Meanwhile, SOMEONE is going to get a scolding. B| ]

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
I am hardly "spouting it out all over the place"--just to the one who brought it up in the first place.

Not until I am afforded it first, signorina.

[Don't you dare scold my son. That's my job and no one else is allowed to do it. >B|]

[identity profile] najawantsgold.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
You obviously don't have any idea who yer talkin' to.

And I'm havin' a harrrd time believin' you'd know about my little "assistant" by just "paying attention." Who the hell are you?

[ She doesn't care, she's President Naja and she can do what she wants! >:O ]

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
And obviously neither care nor see why it should matter. You have no idea who I am, and perhaps that should be your biggest concern rather than a little respect from someone more experienced than yourself.

Answer that little question on your own and perhaps I'll be impressed enough to lend you a favor or two.

[Not if you've got a blade in your back. >:|]

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Undoubtedly. But I have gone through the woes of figuring that out on my own a long time ago and I hardly deserve a repeat of my own history.

Don't lecture the old man, boy. You'll find you have hardly what it takes.

[He wasn't in this foul a mood before he started talking to the catty-lady above. Really.]

[identity profile] najawantsgold.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Hmph. Feeling's mutual, strrranger. Not that I need any help at the moment. Just do me a favor and don't trrry anything...either on me or on him. He may be inexperrrienced, but he's not incompetent.

[ Was that a threat. B|!!! ]

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
...

[This is Giovanni actually laughing in your face. Rather genuinely amused and uncontrolled. He won't even bother with a real reply just yet.]

[identity profile] najawantsgold.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
[ What.

WHAT. ]

Would you mind telling me WHAT IS SO FUNNY?!

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
I think I would know best, not some stranger. Tu non sei così intelligente per un aspirante patrona.

[identity profile] najawantsgold.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
[ So now Naja's gone from ticked off to rather confused. ]

...would ya rrrun that my be again in English, please?

[identity profile] crystal-eyed.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Better to be bored than to be nursing wounds, if you ask me.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh-ho. Now she wants to order me around as if that will solve her problems. You do not sound so awe-inspiring now, piccola ragazza.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose. But at least the wounds meant I was doing my job.

Are you so easily frightened, principe?

[identity profile] inyourgarden.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
[He's not sure if he should be offended or amused honestly. On the one hand 'boy' is not something he wants to hear from anyone, not after the last time someone called him that. ...On the other hand the righteous indignation is kind of hilarious.]

It's Seifer. Guess you don't know much about me.

Who are you supposed to be?
