Nothing in life matters more to a father than his children. Not friends, not other family, not loyalties. The people here mean nothing compared to that one life or set of lives. He would give anything to make everything right for them.

I don't feel shame saying that. I don't care who overhears that I would condemn over my children's safety.

Take that away, and there is nothing left.
