betrayedblade: (♠ :: Auditore sigillo)

[The only thing that shows up on the video feed is a sigil on a flag of some kind hung up on a wall--it fills the whole screen and the camera is set up purposefully for it does not move the entire time. See icon for exact image of the sigil.]

Today is the Feast of Annunciation.

In Firenze, that also means the beginning of the New Year. I realize that many have already celebrated such an event and I will admit at the time it befuddled me that so many celebrated it during that time, and then again the Eastern tradition was on yet another day altogether. So it was celebrated twice here with such a diversity of peoples. But to me the beginning of the year starts this day. I realize it seems odd to celebrate the new year right in the middle of a month but it is how we've done it for years. Call it a religious fault, if you will, though that may be inaccurate it does fall on the celebration on the Annunciation of Christ--likely on purpose.

Either way... I quite like the tradition.

Ezio, enjoy the grapes and strawberries while they last. I won't be asking for them again anytime soon. And I imagine they are very hard to grow at this time of the year.

Arcivescovo Maxwell, I will be coming to the church to pay my respects. I assume you still celebrate the day despite the chronology differences?

Su Altezza Alessandro, Cardinale Sforza--will you hold true as well? Shall I see the two of you today?

La sicurezza e la pace sulla città ei suoi abitanti. Potrebbe essere il giorno luminoso e felice per tutti. Buon anno.

[[Arcivescovo - Archbishop

Su Altezza - Your Highness

Cardinale - Cardinal

Safety and peace upon the city and its residents. May the day be bright and happy for all. Happy new year.]]

Just somewhere neutral. [...] How does the graveyard sound?

Sufficient enough. T = 8 minutes.

[transmission terminated. he's going to the graveyard.]

Very...well.

[Giovanni will likely be there already though completely out of sight and not "arrive" until after Sho appears.]

[Minamimoto shows up roughly 8 minutes later, the chess set tucked under his arm and his hands stuffed in his pockets. He stands near the gate, looking around and waiting.]

[So precise.

Giovanni steps out of seemingly nowhere half a minute later, a ghost in all white robes and hood.]

Salute.

[When he wants to be.

The ex-officer looks immediately in his direction, a smirk creeping onto his face. Hiding in the shadows, hm? It's not nearly as surprising when you've seen it in the most literal sense possible.

He takes a couple steps forward, pulling his free hand out of his pocket to tip his hat in greeting.]

[Giovanni nods in acknowledgement and stands still, waiting. It occurs to him a moment later he's not here on business and he quirks a not-quite sheepish smirk.]

I apologize--I never asked for your name or introduced myself. Giovanni Auditore da Firenze. Nice to meet you...

Name's Sho Minamimoto.

[pulls out his other hand from his pocket, revealing a stuff (the chess pieces) wrapped up in a bandanna.]

Signore Sho. [He is not even going to try and pronounce that atrocious surname(?) name. It's for everyone's own good. Really.]

Ahh, [he looks at the bandanna expectantly] I look forward to this. [He unslings a small pack and opens it up for Sho to peer inside. Waddled cloth. Something metallic. Sho's requests apparently.]

[He's got quite a surname indeed.

In the bandanna, a full set of chess pieces, these (http://blog.makezine.com/chess-set_ZjzHA_69.jpg), however less shiny. Give or take a few minor defects, they seem to be well made. After all, metal sculptures are his specialty.]

[Oh, geez, that is one of the prettiest chess sets I've ever seen why must you tease me like this-- Giovanni gives the pieces a cursory glance and seems to be satisfied even from that. After all, they are better than nothing and though oddly made seem very well crafted. This he appreciates.]

Molto bene, giovane.
This is good. [He holds out the pack in offering.] This is yours. I hope it is satisfactory.

[It's awesome, no?-- He hands over the board as he grabs the package. A painted wooden board, likely formerly part of a table.]

I know. [Arrogant? Yes, but he is rather pleased with the outcome himself. He opens the package, looking though.] It's sufficient, covers all the factors.

[It works. It definitely works. Giovanni nods absently, glancing a bit more closely at the pieces and board. He looks slightly impressed but the look only lasts for as long as he's gazing at the set; when he looks up its gone.]

Thank you.

[It's probably a good thing Giovanni was fairly subtle about it, since Sho really doesn't need his ego pet. It's bad enough as is.

A nod.]
Of course.
