...perhaps I miss the old routine a bit much. This new one, while nice and cozy, makes only for a decent vacation. Yes, even despite the odd happenstances here and there. It is too...boring.

[He pauses. He's complaining. And he realizes he's turned the communicator without much thinking about it. He was past due for an update anyway, before he discovered for himself just what sort of energy the device packed, and had been thinking about it before he started in on the complaints of this place. Ah well.]

Boring. Listen to me--complaining like some sort of youngster who has nothing better than to get into trouble every day. I converse much too often with giovani here and start to reminiscence on my old lifestyle as if I could get away with what I used to.

[He sighs.] I am getting old. When you start saying 'I'm getting too old for this' it is well past time you are too old for...things.

...Ugh. Now I'm using circular arguments and boring unto death those silly enough to listen to these devices.

[...]

Though I can't help but to miss the action back home. Not just the routine... but the purpose. What purpose is there here?

Perhaps a change of tactics? Should the enemy be taking you and your comrades down faster then you can take them down, a change in strategy would help to solve the problem long enough for you to figure out what they are doing.

As would anyone who is dedicated to the protection of the people.

We have changed our tactics for each of their new ploys. The truth of the matter is... we have always been the underdogs. And it will always be easier for them to recruit with their money and politics than with--

[He shakes his head, sighs, and clicks off the communicator for now.]

[...L-lol he does have a date with death coming up and he knows it. Thanks Eald'narche. Which is ALSO TANGENTALLY YOUR FAULT. So... Ow. But he's not bitter. The laugh he gives definitely isn't happy though, but it is rather dark. He knows his place far better than you'd think.]

Eald'narche you don't know a damn thing about 'my place'. If I die it's because I wasn't good enough. That's my fault. Who I am, what I am has nothing to do with it.

I don't care if he's your father. If he's going to act like a five year old throwing a tantrum that's how I'm going to treat him.

I may like you, but that doesn't mean you can control me. Only one person does that. Is this clear?

[It's his turn to laugh. Touché.]

But I am Italian--being in love with one's self, as any Englishman or other foreign countryman will tell you, is a prerequisite.

[But more seriously:] I have nothing to prove to you in that case--but I will still take my apology to my country when you are ready to act your age and not try to outwit a more experienced player of the world. You can have the rest for your effort. It is commendable.

But--if you think others should be worth something to you, then you are not worthy of them.

Money shall eventually lose it's glimmer. When that time comes, you may be surprised to see those underdogs of yours holding the high ground. A snake lies in wait for it's prey; it does not seek them out.

[Very well, Giovanni. Until the next time.]

[identity profile] inyourgarden.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
If you wanna wait on that apology go for it. Still say it's gonna be awhile, but that's your decision. I won't stop you, heh. [shrug]

I don't remember saying I was worth anything to anyone here. Last I checked that wasn't my job. You're free to consider me a young idiot with a big mouth all you like. I'm not gonna lose sleep over it, promise.

[Dying of laughter because he knows better than anyone how to wait patiently for his prey to come to him. Thus how the eagle hunts.

Buuuuut, since he he wants to act like a stubborn child at the moment and lament the fact that he dies before he can truly change anything he won't get into the whole "that is how we've
always done things" speech and lecture. For now.]

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
I will get it eventually.

Good for you. But perhaps its the lack of that sort of emotional response that makes you less of a human being than most. How about I leave you with that to ponder over.

[identity profile] ten-no-ryuu.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, at least Hitsu's good at something, even if it is just making a fool of himself to the Assassin.

Hitsu'll be expecting something later on; a conversation ending like this is often a sign of things to come.]

[identity profile] inyourgarden.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
I'll keep that in mind.

[...Gdit Giovanni did you have to bring his humanity into this.] ...Tch. I'm a knight. What's important to me ain't here. What do you expect?

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
If that is actually true then I expect you to act like a knight.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
[The boy's not an idiot nor naive, that much Giovanni will give him.

But this is a sensitive subject and made even more so by the fact that his future has been revealed to him--he will die before he sees justice done. While not entirely a concept he has not already considered probable for his lifetime, the way it goes... is not happy.

Giovanni won't avoid him or another similar conversation if that is what comes up.]

[identity profile] inyourgarden.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
...Unhunh. [He is not intent on putting the population under his thumb and attempting to enslave all sorceress level magic users in preparation for the possibility of his sorceress arriving so... that's not really in his plans right now.]

You a knight?

[identity profile] ten-no-ryuu.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Such is the cost of being a Captain at such a "young" age.

Death is never a pleasant thing; especially when you deal with it on a daily basis.

Hitsugaya is a smart boy. While he won't outright avoid the topic, he won't seek it out either. Everyone has secrets they'd prefer to keep.]

1/2, sorry

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
If you're a knight, do you not know the hierarchy of your own kind?

No. I am not a knight. If knights were still in existence in Italia they would serve their noble lord as his, or her, retainer. Just as that lord would serve his king or queen as their retainer. That is the hierarchy of that system.

Firenze is a republic with no such system.

...But the dream is still there in every Italian's heart to have that nobility like all the other countries speak of. But what is it really? [Now he's getting philosophical. He stops himself short. Sorry.]
Edited 2010-05-26 10:02 (UTC)

2/2 thought it fit better like this. /facepalms

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
...I serve as a knight to my lord whom I chose for reasons of my own as best to the ideal that I am capable without compromising my honor and duty to the people. That is the best answer I can give you.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
[Giovanni is a hardened soul, but when it comes to his own premature death...

And the Assassins a few more than most. Secretive by nature, its hard to open completely up even here. ...Though he has done it once or twice here in moments of...annoyance, or stupidity. Take your pick.]

|D that's fine

[identity profile] inyourgarden.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
[...Well that wasn't the answer he was expecting. He's a bit amused. In a good way this time, not a mocking way fff.]

Hunh. Wouldn't have guessed.

That's not the type of knight I am though.

<3 ^^

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
Pity. Their ways of chivalry are to be much respected and cherished by the people they do right by.

[identity profile] inyourgarden.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
... [He knows this better than anyone would think. Seifer has his own brand of chivalry though and he's not about to change it now.]

I'd say I do right by the person that counts. She's still alive and ain't nothing gonna change that while I'm still breathing. Anything else is inconsequential.

[If he makes it sound a bit like it's him and her against the world... it sort of is fff.]

Tch and I've never been polite, it ain't just you.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
If that is how you feel then...

[identity profile] inyourgarden.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
Tch, I ain't here to clean up the world. That's SeeD's job.

A knight has a duty to his sorceress and no one else. That's not something I'm gonna forget.

[identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 10:50 am (UTC)(link)
No. It was never meant to be a knight's job to 'clean up the world'. They only made a mess of it whenever they tried so hard...

Is that the way of your world? Again, I say pity. True chivalry is so much more than that. Yes, unwavering loyalty and servitude; but he is as much for the people as he is to serve his lord. Defend the helpless; strike down the wicked. Virtue and honor.

But perhaps you can leave those to the fairytales if that is what you truly wish.

[identity profile] techoutmystaff.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
My purpose here is to help people, rebuild what I can, and be there for my family. And with what time I have left.. well, I make good use of that, too!

[He doesn't even have to think about it. Busy as a beaver, this one!]

It sounds like you really need to find something to do, Mr. Auditore. There's plenty here that needs to be done... it just might not be the type of work you'd like to do.

[identity profile] foxtamer.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[Minato thinks about this when he finally sees the post for a few minutes before responding.]

People. My purpose here is people, as it was in my world. I just.. can't really fulfill that purpose until I'm healed again. Which is frustrating, to say the least.
