...perhaps I miss the old routine a bit much. This new one, while nice and cozy, makes only for a decent vacation. Yes, even despite the odd happenstances here and there. It is too...boring.

[He pauses. He's complaining. And he realizes he's turned the communicator without much thinking about it. He was past due for an update anyway, before he discovered for himself just what sort of energy the device packed, and had been thinking about it before he started in on the complaints of this place. Ah well.]

Boring. Listen to me--complaining like some sort of youngster who has nothing better than to get into trouble every day. I converse much too often with giovani here and start to reminiscence on my old lifestyle as if I could get away with what I used to.

[He sighs.] I am getting old. When you start saying 'I'm getting too old for this' it is well past time you are too old for...things.

...Ugh. Now I'm using circular arguments and boring unto death those silly enough to listen to these devices.

[...]

Though I can't help but to miss the action back home. Not just the routine... but the purpose. What purpose is there here?

Certainly not. With a routine as heavy as your own, you've already found a purpose. To survive, and to help the citizens of Discedo to do the same. How you find the time to think you've a lack of purpose is beyond my comprehension.
From: [identity profile] betrayedblade.livejournal.com
Well I don't very well do it all at once and one has to rest at some point in time.

This purpose lacks meaning as compared to the one I formally held. What, pray tell, is the point.
From: [identity profile] ten-no-ryuu.livejournal.com
I suppose you would be correct in that sense. Going with no rest with such a heavy workload would be detrimental to yourself and all those you come in contact with.

The point, I believe, is to survive long enough to either find a way home, or to be sent back by the scientists.

I'm not a fool, and I'm not a boy. Hold your lecturing comments to yourself.

A pretty goal for a petty fool.

My apologies. Lecturing you was not my intention.

Perhaps I am a fool. Who is to say otherwise?

[He takes a moment to calm his voice. Respect begets respect.]

It is something to keep the innocent hopeful, and happy. That I will not take away from them--however, I am not naive and have no need for the disillusionment of hope.

I need a purpose; I need my profession back. A reason to protect the innocent from the corrupt.

Everyone is in need of hope, at one time or another. ...Or so I've been told.

With the exception of the scientists, there do not seem to be any truly corrupt in this city as of yet. Arrogant and greedy, yes. Violent as well; but corruption has yet to make a true appearence. Would having your true purpose back be truly worth the innocence of those affected?

[He sighs.] And so I would tell anyone else as well.

It would not affect anyone else, if you must know. It has always been my job to keep it from the people and continue to ascertain their natural freedom in life. If anything, these scientists are the equivalent of my true enemy in my world... but I cannot use my skills so easily or properly here as I would like. They do not...translate so well, in a manner of speaking.

And the war from my world is fought in the shadows where the common people are unaware. So much is different.

But for your question there is no answer is my point. Only a handful are affected when I and my Brothers keep "them" at bay--and they dare not risk coming out as they once did with us at their very throats and the people no longer towards their favor.

[Aaand...he's said too much. He goes suddenly unnaturally quiet.]

[Oh? Curious as you've made him, Giovanni, he won't ask.] Be it in the shadows or in front of the populace, so long as the people are kept safe from major harm, then the battle is won. And it would seem the majority of the people of Discedo would join you in striking down the scientists, should they ever be found.

If only the war in any world could be won as simply as saying that.

...Not if we stop. Not if we do not weed them out quicker; not if we keep dwindling in number faster. ...Not if we cannot figure out their plans fast enough.

I would gladly give my life if it meant truly winning a war that would bring real peace.

Perhaps a change of tactics? Should the enemy be taking you and your comrades down faster then you can take them down, a change in strategy would help to solve the problem long enough for you to figure out what they are doing.

As would anyone who is dedicated to the protection of the people.

We have changed our tactics for each of their new ploys. The truth of the matter is... we have always been the underdogs. And it will always be easier for them to recruit with their money and politics than with--

[He shakes his head, sighs, and clicks off the communicator for now.]

Money shall eventually lose it's glimmer. When that time comes, you may be surprised to see those underdogs of yours holding the high ground. A snake lies in wait for it's prey; it does not seek them out.

[Very well, Giovanni. Until the next time.]

[Dying of laughter because he knows better than anyone how to wait patiently for his prey to come to him. Thus how the eagle hunts.

Buuuuut, since he he wants to act like a stubborn child at the moment and lament the fact that he dies before he can truly change anything he won't get into the whole "that is how we've
always done things" speech and lecture. For now.]

[Well, at least Hitsu's good at something, even if it is just making a fool of himself to the Assassin.

Hitsu'll be expecting something later on; a conversation ending like this is often a sign of things to come.]

[The boy's not an idiot nor naive, that much Giovanni will give him.

But this is a sensitive subject and made even more so by the fact that his future has been revealed to him--he will die before he sees justice done. While not entirely a concept he has not already considered probable for his lifetime, the way it goes... is not happy.

Giovanni won't avoid him or another similar conversation if that is what comes up.]

[Such is the cost of being a Captain at such a "young" age.

Death is never a pleasant thing; especially when you deal with it on a daily basis.

Hitsugaya is a smart boy. While he won't outright avoid the topic, he won't seek it out either. Everyone has secrets they'd prefer to keep.]

[Giovanni is a hardened soul, but when it comes to his own premature death...

And the Assassins a few more than most. Secretive by nature, its hard to open completely up even here. ...Though he has done it once or twice here in moments of...annoyance, or stupidity. Take your pick.]
